A note about HTML5. The HTML5/CSS3 companion standards, collectively known as HTML5, are the newest and most powerful standards for web presentation, in general. Much more powerful than its previous versions, HTML5 is currently used as the default output for all professional online learning systems, including Adobe Captivate, due to its consistency of presentation quality, ease of deployment to the student, and flexibility for ongoing maintenance. However, although today's eLearning applications might output their usable courses to standard HTML5, they still have the terrible disadvantages of limiting the author's capabilities during project creation, then storing their project files in proprietary formats that can only be used by the brand of software creating it. HTML5, being open and standards-based on the other hand, doesn't experience any of those types of limitations or disadvantages.
